Campus Life

Life in a Small Learning Community

Pajaro Valley is divided into five smaller learning communities. With a split lunch, two SLC’s share one lunch and three share another. During their respective lunch times, the other SLC’s have an Advisory program going on. Clubs and sports programs are comprised of students from any of the five SLC’s, but the SLC’s (called "dens" because our school mascot is the grizzly) do function as five separate schools within the larger Pajaro Valley High. Pajaro Valley High encompasses all the advantages of any large high school. We simply have the additional element of a more personalized learning environment which ideally can potentially foster greater success.

Closed Campus and the Environment Impact Report

As part of the effort to mitigate harmful effects on environmentally sensitive habitat areas which surround Pajaro Valley High, we are a closed campus. As a charge of the school, we have certain limits on things that may adversely affect these protected areas. Teachers have expected student learning outcomes tied to developing an awareness, appreciation of the environment. Our graduates will hopefully evolve into conscientious, conservation minded citizens as a result.
