Technology in the Classroom
Teacher Course Blogs to Promote Collaboration:

Through the support of the Teacher Development Grant from the McCarthy Dressman Foundation, teachers attended sessions to develop their courses on PVUSD blog sites. In the coming school year, the updating and maintaining of these will be crucial to the teachers access to what is going on in each other’s classroom. This awareness of each other’s curriculum and where they are at will allow teachers to better enhance their ability to work together on an interdisciplinary level.
Wikis Can Promote Work Across Subject Areas:

Wiki pages have been established on the Den 2 English 1 and 2 blogs. Student work has been posted on a limited basis here and this is a goal to have this further developed in the coming year. The use of these pages can allow teachers in other courses to have students also post work which adds, elaborates, or infuses the content learned in another content area. For example, the journals about fiction read in English can have links added by students in science or history classes that relate. Teacher sessions or workshops to have them become familiar with the Wiki process is a goal in the proposals for McCarthy Dressman to improve our program through innovative uses of technology.
Ongoing Technology Support

Den 2 has an open invitation to teachers willing to try these new approaches to collaboration through grant support. If teachers are interested in branching out to take advantage of new ways to work together, the following methods are available: finding common curricular ground across subject areas, international collaboration with partner schools, and utilizing district portals to increase efficiency of research and working collaboratively through technology.
